Outstanding Curriculum and Assessment Resource (Secondary)

From proficiency benchmark to structured progression

Once learners have been benchmarked through structured English proficiency assessment, development continues within the learning environment.

FlashAcademy®’s EAL learning app is a curriculum-aligned digital platform that translates assessment insight into targeted academic English development.

Lessons focus on the language required to access the curriculum, strengthening subject-specific vocabulary, academic sentence structures and confidence across reading, writing, listening and speaking.

FlashAcademy® offers two structured content sets, including a PARSNIP-approved programme designed for British international schools. This ensures that English development aligns with recognised standards and accreditation expectations, while maintaining consistency across year groups and phases.

Accelerating academic English acquisition

FlashAcademy®’s EAL learning app for international schools accelerates academic English acquisition through adaptive learning pathways that systematically develop vocabulary, sentence structures and comprehension across reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Learning and progression data integrate directly with the connected teacher dashboard, forming part of a unified English proficiency system.

36%

In early-stage implementation across GEMS Education schools, a 36% improvement in English proficiency grades was recorded within one term. Analysis across international users also shows schools with higher levels of sustained engagement have demonstrated stronger movement between proficiency bands.

Supporting teachers without increasing teacher workload

Pre-defined pathways

Once learners are benchmarked, learning pathways are already mapped to their proficiency level. Teachers can assign development immediately, without creating individual language programmes from scratch.
listen and build the sentence

Independent, sequenced learning

Learners work through clearly structured lessons aligned to their stage of development. This allows students to build English proficiency alongside classroom teaching, reducing the need for additional planning time.

Centralised progress visibility

Learning activity and proficiency movement are accessible through the connected teacher dashboard. Staff can monitor engagement and development within one system, without maintaining separate tracking documents.

Consistency across departments

A shared proficiency framework supports continuity in English development across year groups and departments, helping maintain stability even where responsibilities are distributed across multiple teachers.

“FlashAcademy® has transformed how we use data to drive EAL progress. In just one year, 70% of our learners progressed by at least one grade, with 91 students improving by three grades or more in writing. At the same time, assessment time fell by 84%, giving us clearer insights and more capacity to deliver targeted support that helps more students move into mainstream English.”
